Cross-Country Goes the Distance at DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - It was another busy afternoon for the Albright Cross-Country teams as they competed in the 2009 DeSales University Invitational Cross-Country meet Saturday afternoon.

The men's team paced by sophomore George Cook finished in 16th place out of 27 teams. On the women's side, the Lady Lions led by Gabby Stine finished in 21st place out of 25 teams that competed on Saturday.

Cook led the men's team with a 38th place finish and a time of 28:11.35. Stine was the women's team top finisher in 139th place and a time of 28:42.49.

Also having a strong performance for the men's squad was senior Dan Dalton who finished with a time of 29:09.35 (75th place). Eli Frey was the third Lion runner to cross the finish line on Saturday, recording a time of 30:05.65 to earn him 120th place.

Bob Kellert and Jake Goldberg were neck and neck through most of Saturday's meet. Kellert posted a 143rd place finish and a time of 30:35.20. Goldberg finished in 155th place and crossed the finish line with a time of 31:08.98.

Senior Anthony Carozza earned the team's sixth best finish with a final mark of 32:03.96 (195th place). The final three Albright runners finished within mere seconds of one another. James Guischard led the pack with a time of 33:25.42 (222nd place). Right behind him was Jon Weber with a time of 33:36.84 and Chris Bollinger with a time of 34:05.73.

For the women's team Mallory Ketterer recorded the Lady Lions second best finish with a time of 29:16.49 (153rd place). Behind her was teammate Michelle Reinhart in 164th place and a time of 30:03.89. Sophomore Nicole Kelly also fought through nagging knee injury and posted a time of 31:06.51 (179th place).

Closing out the afternoon for the Lion runners was Megan Ford, as she crossed the finish line with a time of 35:24.38.

The Albright cross-country teams were scheduled to compete next Saturday at Gettysburg College, but instead will take the week off to rest up for their Middle Atlantic Conference meet at the end of the month. They will compete in one final meet before MAC's on Saturday the 24th against Alvernia University.
