Volleyball Makes Quick Work of Ursinus, Wins Fifth Straight

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The recent Albright Volleyball (12-10) hot streak continued Saturday afternoon, as the red and white made quick work of the Bears of Ursinus College (7-10) handing them a 3-0 loss at Helfferich Hall.

Even with the 3-0 victory, the Lady Lions had to earn every single point as they defeated Ursinus by the score of 27-25 in the first and second games. In game three, Albright took a strong 25-20 win over the host Bears to continue their winning ways.

Having an afternoon was outside hitter Danielle Ozment who scored a match high 14 kills on 39 attempts. Ozment was charged with only five errors in the win. The junior transfer from Kutztown also had two service aces and recorded 17 digs.

Helping out on the offense was freshman Alyssa Hoogendoorn who scored eight kills of her own on 15 attempts and was credited with just one error. Setting up her hitters was junior setter Lauren Higgins who tallied 29 assists.

Defensively, Kelly Nicodemus added a match high 19 digs to the team’s 57. Newcomers Erin Wentzel and Alexa Jones each tallied eight digs to help the Lions cause.

Volleyball returns to action on Wednesday when they host Widener University in a Commonwealth Conference match at 7 p.m. in the Bollman Center.
