Aggies Win Shoot Out with Field Hockey

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - In a back and forth offensive battle which saw a total of 41 shots taken between Albright (5-10) and Delaware Valley (8-7) respectively, it was the Aggies that walked away with the 3-0 decision Tuesday afternoon.

On the day, the red and white offense combined for 17 shots on the Aggies cage. Leading the way for Albright was Gia Boscola who tallied a team high five shots. For the host Aggies, their offense was guided by Holly Rich who recorded a game high eight shots and two goals.

Rich who ranks second on the team in points recorded her seventh and eighth goals of the season in the non-conference match. Rich also has four assists to her name as well giving her 20 points on the year.

Netting the only other Delaware Valley goal was Bethany Pavlik, who leads the team with 11 goals this season.

Also producing shots on goal for the Lady Lions were Caitlin Feldman and Kaitlyn Pietrusewicz with four each. Beth Moran got off a pair of shots, while Kelly Zepp and Courtney White each record one.

Both goalies were very busy in the match as Albright netminder Kaitlyn Johnstone came up with 11 stops, and Aggie netminder Hollis Hancock earned 10 of her own. Delaware Valley had a very slim lead over the red and white in penalty corners walking away with one more than Albright (8-7).

Delaware Valley broke the scoreless draw in the 20th minute on Rich’s first goal of the day. Pavlik then made it 2-0 in the 44th minute after receiving a pass from Mindy Miniconzi. Rich then sealed the victory in the 57th minute to give the Aggies their eighth win of the year.

Field Hockey returns to action on Friday when they host DeSales University at 7 p.m. in Shirk Stadium.
