Women's Soccer Wins Third Straight
Box Score

READING, Pa. - Still very much alive in the playoff hunt, the Lady Lions (7-7-2/3-2 Commonwealth) faced off against conference newcomer and Reading rival Alvernia University (3-14/0-5 Commonwealth) Tuesday evening. Led by sophomore forward Heather Fitzgerald the red and white defeated their cross town rivals by the final score of 1-0.

With the win, the Lions currently sit in fourth place in the Commonwealth Conference standings. The goal was Fitzgerald’s first of the season, and was netted in the 57th minute of the match. Guiding the red and white on the defensive side was sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Giuliano who recorded her third conference shutout of the season.

So far this season Giuliano has recorded shutouts against Elizabethtown (2-0), Lebanon Valley College (1-0), and now Alvernia. On the day, Giuliano recorded three saves and faced a total of six shots from the Crusaders offense.

For Alvernia, Kirsten Kelley made a pair of saves, and faced a total of six shots from Albright’s offense. Fitzgerald led the team with two shots while Jordan Cassidy and Emma Tutino each put a shot on goal as well.

Albright closed out the match with four corner kicks, while Alvernia recorded two of their own.

Women’s Soccer returns to action this Saturday when they travel to Lycoming College for another crucial conference match. Start time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
