READING, Pa. - Both Cross-Country teams had solid outings at their 2009 Homecoming Meet. The men’s team placed 3rd out of eight teams, while the women’s posted a fourth place finish out of the eight teams that competed in the meet.
On the women’s side it was Alvernia Universities Bridget Burger who took first place with a final time of 25:55.56. Recording the top finish for the red and white was
Gabby Stine who posted a time of 28:43.75 (10th place) on the 6K course. She was joined in the top-20 finishers by
Mallory Ketterer. The sophomore crossed the finish line with a time of 29:15.00 to earn 16th place.
Finishing Saturday’s meet in 27th place was
Michelle Reinhart with a time of 32:34.15. After her was sophomore
Nicole Kelly in 33rd place with a time of 33:42.47, followed by
Megan Ford in 42nd place and a time of 36:01.44
Switching over the men’s part of Saturday’s meet, sophomore
George Cook who led almost the entire afternoon posted a second place finish with a time of 28:08.47. Beating out Cook in the final stretch of the race was Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Mark Cordeiro who closed out the meet with a 28:01.22 finish.
Three other runners joined Cook in the top-20 and they were
Dan Dalton in 7th place with a time of 29:44.15,
Eli Frey in 13th place with a time of 30:17.93, and Jacob Goldberg in 20th place with a time of 31:24.00.
Posting a 28th place (31:54.12) finish was
Bob Kellert, followed by
Anthony Carozza in 33rd place (33:16.40). Closing out the meet for the Lions was
James Guischard (44th, 35:25.75),
Jon Weber (45th, 35:29.40), and
Chris Bollinger (46th place, 36:32.44).
The Cross-Country teams will return to the trails next Saturday when they take part in the DeSales University Invitational, which is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
