Eastern Slips by Lady Lion Netters

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - In their first match in nearly two weeks; the Albright Women’s Tennis (2-4) team dropped a close one to Eastern University (4-4) by the score of 5-4 Tuesday afternoon in non-conference play.

In singles play, the red and white were able to earn wins in two of the six matches played. At first singles Lisa Archibald picked up another victory for her team in a close 6-3, 2-6, 11-9 match. Newcomer Jessica Gordon also earned a solid for the Lady Lions defeating Alyszsha Dodson 6-0, 6-2.

Moving into doubles play, the Lion netters recorded victories at first and second doubles. Archibald and teammate Ashley Woodcock pulled out a close on in second doubles defeating Eastern duo Allison Verdic and Jennifer Wright 9-7.

To start doubles play off, Albright picked up a forfeit victory from Eastern making 4-3 in favor of the host team. After the second doubles victory by Archibald and Woodcock the score was even at 4-4. Unfortunately, the Lions were unable to hold on in the end, as Eastern managed to slip away with the win.

Women’s Tennis returns to action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Arcadia University for a 4 p.m. Commonwealth Conference match.
