READING, PA - The Albright Men's Swim Team beat Arcadia University in a conference contest Saturday afternoon by a score of 108-74. On the year the Lions improve to 3-1 while Arcadia drops to 1-2.
The Red and White started off the afternoon by winning the 400 yard Medley Relay. The team of Sean Zadjel (Yardley, PA/Pennsburg), Jordan Hash (Shrewsbury, PA/Susquehanock), Matt O'Neill (Ridley Park, PA/Ridley), and Kyle Torrens (West Chester, PA/West Chester East) clocked in at a time of 3:53:10 to win the race for the Lions.
Ryan McGroarty (Media, PA/Penncrest) followed up that win with his first victory in the 1000 yard Freestyle, finishing in 10:56:16. Eric Kramer (Watsontown, PA/Warrior Run) kept the momentum alive for the Red and White by winning the 200 yard Freestyle with a time of 1:58:39.
In the quick 50 yard Freestyle, it was another win for the Lions, with John Ferrara (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) placing first in this race with a time of 23:95. Torrens added another victory to his name and to the Lion's scoreboard when he won the 200 yard Individual Medley in 2:12:68.
Chris Sheerer (Leola, PA/Conestoga Valley) kept up the dominance in the pool with a time of 56:60 in the 100 yard Butterfly, giving the Red and White yet another first place. Zadjel notched his second victory of the afternoon with a victory in the 100 yard Freestyle with a time of 57:06. O'Neill became another two-time winner on the afternoon when he won the 100 yard Backstroke with a time of 1:01:33.
In the 500 yard Freestyle, Kramer won his second event of the afternoon, easily taking the race with a time of 4:54:17. Arcadia University took home the 100 yard Breaststroke, but the Lions followed it up with a victory in the 400 yard Freestyle Relay. The winning team for the Lions consisted of Hash, Sheerer, Ferarra, and Torrens.
The Lions take to the pool again next Saturday afternoon in a home meet against Messiah College starting at 2:00 PM.
