GLENSIDE, Pa. - On Thursday, the Lions traveled to Arcadia University to face the Knights in a Commonwealth Conference match. Arcadia defeated Albright by the final score of 9-0.
With the loss the Lions fell to 0-7 on the year, 0-3 in the conference. Arcadia improved their season record to 3-6 and 1-3 in the Commonwealth.
The host Knights made quick work of the first four Lions singles players. However at the fifth singles spot freshman
Mike Callahan (Lake Ariel, PA/Western Wayne) found himself in a heated contest with Arcadia's Zach Millford. The two battled back and forth in both sets, with Millford pulling out two close decisions (6-3, 7-5).
From there the Knights continued to roll in doubles action, nearly shutting out the red and white in all three matches. The first doubles duo of
Kevin Gauby (Leesport, PA/Schuylkill Valley) and
Jason Lefkoe (Holland, PA/Council Rock HS South) tried their hardest but were unable to overcome their conference rivals falling by the score of 8-2.
Men's Tennis returns to action this Saturday when they travel to Lebanon Valley College for a 1 p.m. conference match.
