Callahan Earns Third Win of the Season against DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - In the Lions' final match of the 2009 season, freshman team member Michael Callahan (Lake Ariel, PA/Western Wayne) picked up his third win of the year in the 8-1 loss to DeSales University, Thursday afternoon.

With the loss, Albright's 2009 record fell to 0-10. DeSales' record improved to 3-11 with Wednesday's win.

To start the afternoon off Lee Fura (Reading, PA/Holy Name) once again had another strong showing at first singles. Despite a tough 6-0 second set loss, Fura battled back and forth in the first set dropping a 6-4 decision. From there DeSales picked up three more singles victories, before Callahan was able to end their streak at fifth singles.

Callahan proved dominant in his match against Timothy Golden. The Lake Ariel, Pa. native recorded a 6-2, 6-3 victory. On the year the freshman standout was 3-4 at fifth singles.

Moving into doubles action, the host Bulldogs swept all three matches in decisive fashion to secure the 8-1 victory.

Wednesday's match marked the final match in the careers of two senior members, Dan Martin (Farmingdale, NJ/St. Rose) and Kevin Gauby (Leesport, PA/Schuylkill Valley).
