Lions Record Strong Finishes at MAC's

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - After their first day of competition the Albright Men’s Track and Field sits in fifth place out of nine teams that are competing at the 2009 Middle Atlantic Conference Championship meet.
Helping the Lions to a team total of 35.50 points was a variety of athletes, starting with Kyle Keller (Schoneck, PA/Cocalico) who placed fifth in the decathlon with a total of 4,773 points. Helping to add to the Lions total was sophomore Justin Gewirtz (North Wales, PA/Wissahickon) who picked up another second place finish in the High Jump event with a height 6-04.00 feet.
Also earning a top five finish in the High Jump was Clif LeGrand (Prince Frederick, MD/Huntingtown). LeGrand recorded a height of 6-02.00 feet to tie for fourth place with DeSales Andrew MacNiven.
Andrew Hettinger (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson) recorded one his best finishes in the Discus Throw with a throw of 126-02 feet to finish in fifth place. Tim Alabi (Washington DC/Bladensburg) earned an eighth place finish in the same event with a toss of 120-08 feet.
Moving into the Shot Put junior Justin Plummer (Upper Darby, PA/Friends Central) and freshman Jordan Gilbert (Pittsgrove, NJ/Arthur P. Schalick) finished in seventh and eighth place respectively with marks of 43-01.50 feet and 42-03.50 feet.
LeGrand tallied a fourth place finish in the Triple Jump with a distance of 42-10.75 feet. Senior Ryan Bausch (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) actually led the Lions in the event with a distance of 43-02.50 feet which earned him third place.
Freshman Tevin Wood (Baltimore, MD/Wood Lawn) qualified for the first track event of the day in the 400 meter dash. Wood recorded a time of 52.01 seconds in the qualifying round. In the finals Wood placed 10th with a time of 11.52 seconds.
Also placing 10th was Ryan Mays (Reisterstown, MD/Franklin) in the 200 meter dash to end the afternoon. The freshman sprinter recorded a time of 23.32 seconds.
Men’s Track and Field return to action tomorrow afternoon for the final day of competition.
