Lady Lions Swept by Warriors in Season Finale

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - In their 2009 Commonwealth Conference season finale, the Lady Lions dropped back-to-back games to the host Warriors of Lycoming College Saturday afternoon at Shangraw Complex.

Albright closed its 2009 campaign with an overall record of 5-29, 1-11 in the Commonwealth Conference. Lycoming also closed its 2009 season on Saturday, and finished the year with a record of 12-22, 4-8 in the conference.

In game one of the doubleheader, Lycoming jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the third inning. They then added some additional breathing room in the next two innings to take a 5-0 lead. Albright did try to rally back in the seventh tacking on a pair of early runs.

Unfortunately, Lycoming was able to hold on to pull out the 5-2 decision. The nightcap was just as close as the opener. This time, the Lions held onto an early one run lead (2-1) after the second inning. The Warriors did even the score in the bottom half of the third. They then scored four unanswered runs to secure the 6-2 conference victory.

At the plate, freshman third baseman Becky Crandall (Mohnton, PA/Holy Name) led the team with a combined four hits in six at-bats respectively. She was also responsible for one run.

On the mound in game one, sophomore Dana Parolari (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) threw all six innings allowing five runs on 10 hits, while also striking out four Warrior hitters.

Game two saw Alex Tragno (New Providence, NJ/New Providence) throw six complete innings. The freshman righty dished out three strikeouts in the nightcap, and surrendered six runs on 11 hits.
