ELIZABETHTOWN, PA - The Albright Women's Swim team returned to their winning ways Saturday afternoon defeating the host Blue Jays of Elizabethtown College by the final score of 111 to 94.
Of the 11 events in which the Lady Lions competed, Albright finished first in a total of seven events, starting with 200 yard medley relay. Albright's group “A” completed the opening event with a final time of 2:00.49 to earn the first victory of the day.
Elizabethtown managed to respond right back in the 1,000 yard freestyle as Emily Robinson completed the event with a final time of 11:36.33. Behind her was Albright's Kelly Williams (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) who posted a time of 11:49.81.
The two teams would then trade first place finishes in the next two events, with Albright's Allison Fies (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) taking first place in the 200 yard freestyle. Elizabethtown's Lindsay Riley claimed the Blue Jays next victory in the quick 50 yard freestyle defeating the Lions Kathryn Oeste (Kennett Square, PA/Unionville) by .47 seconds.
Following Elizabethtown's victory in the 50, the Lady Lions went on to take first place in the next three events starting with the 400 Yard IM in which Jess Williams (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) earned a time of 5:03.00. Tara McAdams (Phoenixville, PA/Great Valley) kept things going earning the top finish in the 100 yard butterfly (1:06.22). Fies returned to water to claim her second first place victory of the afternoon this time in the 100 yard freestyle.
E-town went on to finish in first place in two more events, but with a majority of Albright swimmers filling the top spots, the Lady Lions were able to claim the conference victory. To close out the afternoon the 200 yard freestyle relay team of Erika Giberson (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville), Lauren Onusko (Winstead, CT/The Gilbert School ), Oeste, and Fies earned first place in the event with a time of 1:46.11.
Women's Swimming returns to action next Saturday when they take on the Crusaders of Susquehanna University in a non-conference meet. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
