CHESTER, PA - The Women's Swim team earned their third straight conference victory Saturday afternoon defeating the Pride of Widener University by the score of 137.5 to 66.5.
Albright who is currently undefeated when facing conference opponents started the afternoon off with a 400 yard medley relay victory. The Lady Lions managed to pull out a one second decision to start the day off with 11 points in their favor. They then added to their lead as Adrienne Peoples (Wilmington, De/Brandywine) took first place in the long 1,000 yard freestyle earning a time of 11:11.06.
Allison Fies (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) was next in line to earn a first place finish taking the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.00. Fies also went onto take the top finish in the 100 yard freestyle later in the day with a time of 55.53. Not only did Fies take first place in the 100, but her two teammates Lauren Onusko (Winsted, CT/The Gilbert School), and Kathryn Oeste (Kennett Square, PA/Unionville) finished in second and third place respectively to earn a combined 16 points.
The first Widener victory came in 200 yard backstroke as the Pride's Molly Bendzyn narrowly defeated Albright's
Aimee Snyder (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) by .38 of a second. The Lions managed to bounce right back in the next event as Peoples and Kelly Williams (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) took first and second place in the 500 yard freestyle.
In the final individual event, the 200 yard breaststroke, Widener's Elin Berlin recorded her team's final first place finish with a time of 2:38.30. The Lady Lions closed out the afternoon with the top finish in the 400 yard relay defeating the second place finisher by nearly 16 seconds.
Albright Women's Swimming returns to action next Saturday when they host Arcadia University at 2 p.m
