ANNVILLE, PA - The defending Middle Atlantic Conference champions continued their winning ways in their 2008-09 season opener handing the Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley College a 113 to 83 loss Wednesday evening at Arnold Sports Center pool.
Albright from start to finish controlled the pool as if though it was their own. The Lady Lions posted first place finishes in every single event, staring with the 200 meter medley relay.
Aimee Snyder (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg), Jessica Williams (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan), Tara McAdams (Phoenixville, PA/Great Valley), and Lauren Onusko (Winsted, CT/The Gilbert School) dominated all other opponents finishing six seconds ahead of the second place finishers.
Adrienne Peoples (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) recorded the team's second first place finish with a time of 9:54.88 in the 800 meter freestyle. Behind her Kelly Williams (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) managed a time of 10:23.61 and the second place finish in the event. Moving on to the 200 meter freestyle, the Lady Lions continued to just blow past their competition taking the first, third, and fourth place finish. Allison Fies (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) recorded her first top finish of the new year with a time of 2:20.93.
Kathryn Oeste (Kennett Square, PA/Unionville) and Onusko ended the 50 meter freestyle in first and second place respectively. In her first collegiate meet, Oesete recorded a time of 29.41, with Onusko finishing 20 seconds behind her teammate.
In the 200 meter IM it was another clean sweep for the Red and White as Snyder, Peoples and Sarah Noonan (Frederick, MD/Urbana) finished in order earning 16 more points. Williams had another dominant performance this time in the 100 meter butterfly.
Fies took home her second top finish of the evening this time in the 100 meter freestyle. With a time of 1:03.74, the freshman finished two seconds ahead of her teammate Oesete. Snyder capped off another great performance with a the top finish in the 100 meter backstroke, while in later events, despite being exhibitions, the Lions still managed the best times in the pool.
Women's Swimming will hit the water again this Saturday in their first home meet of the 2008-09 season when they take on Lycoming College at 1 p.m.
