Women's Tennis Downs Penn State Abington

ABINGTON, Pa. - The Lady Lions (2-3) earned another hard fought victory Saturday afternoon defeating Penn State Abington (0-5) by the final score of 6-3 at Abington’s Athletics Center.
The Lions saw key victories throughout the afternoon, including a dominant first singles victory by Lisa Archibald (6-1, 6-1). Also earning a singles victory Saturday afternoon was Anna Berzins who went the extra set with her opponent Michelle Blean. Berzins defeated Bleam 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
At fourth and fifth doubles newcomers Desiree Owle and Jessica Gordon continued their winning ways picking up back-to-back victories. Owle was also successful at third doubles alongside Berzins. The duo defeated Abington’s Mary Bridget Worozbyt and Irena Matkovska 8-0.
To start off the doubles action, Archibald and Ashley Woodcock teamed up and earned another solid win, defeating their Abington opponents by the score of 8-2.
Women’s Tennis will hit the courts again on Tuesday when they travel to Elizabethtown College for a 3:30 p.m. Commonwealth Conference match.
