DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - The Albright Cross-Country teams hit the ground running on Saturday in their 2009 debut. The men's team posted an eighth place finish out of 17 teams that competed in this year's Delaware Valley College Invitational. On the women's side four runners represented the red and white, and posted strong finishes throughout.
Pacing the men's team in their first meet of the year was the duo of
George Cook and
Dan Dalton. The two runners finished Saturday's meet with times of 29:31.94 (27th place) and 29:39.03 (32nd place) respectively. Finishing in 56th place was
Bob Kellert with a time of 30:41.31. Junior
Eli Frey crossed the finish line with a time of 31:09.49 (66th place) and
Jake Goldberg earned a final time of 31:31.90 to earn 73rd place.
Freshman
James Guischard recorded a time of 35:23.14, senior
Chris Bollinger posted a time of 36:38.60, and
Jon Weber closed out the meet for the Lions with a time of 36:54.42.
On the women's side
Gabby Stine led the Lady Lions with a 77th place finish and a time of 29:40.96.
Mallory Ketterer finished just 14 seconds behind her teammate with a time of 29:54.31. Sophomore
Nicole Kelly posted a time of 33:09.68 to finish in 116th place, and
Megan Ford crossed the finish line with a time of 35:55.78.
Albright Cross-Country returns to action next Saturday when they take part in the Maroon and Gold Invitational at Kutztown University. Start time is scheduled for 10 a.m.
