BETHLEHEM, Pa. - It was a long day for the members of the Albright Track and Field teams as they competed for individual and team honors at the 2010 Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Championship meet at Lehigh University Saturday afternoon.

Overall the men's team placed 8th out of 11 teams with a total of 27 points, and the women's team placed 9th with 13 points.

Earning First Team All-MAC honors in Saturday's championship meet was Clif LeGrand, Justin Gewirtz, and Daniel Simmons. Second Team All-MAC Honors went to Shannon Loos, Oshane Rennie, Clark Runciman, the men's 4x800 relay team, and the women's 4x200, 4x800, and 4x400 relay teams.

Both LeGrand and Gewirtz brought home silver medals, while Simmons earned his first bronze medal of his young career. LeGrand's second place finish came in the 55 meter dash. His preliminary time of 6.64 was a new personal best for the sophomore, which earned him a place in the final heat in which he recorded a time of 6.68 seconds.

For Gewirtz his silver came in his best event the high jump (6-04.00 feet). LeGrand also competed in the event and placed sixth with a jump of 6-00.00 feet.

Runciman's Second Team All-MAC honors were earned in the pole vault as the freshman recorded a new personal best of 12-00.00 feet. Oshane placed sixth in the finals of the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 6.68 seconds. The 4x800 relay team of Robert Kellert, Dan Dalton, James Guischard, and Peter Ferlita earned a combined time 9:14.84 to place sixth overall.

Also having solid performances for the Lions were Anthony Pellegrino and Andrew Hettinger in the weight throw. The duo finished in 8th and 11th place with tosses of 44-10.75 feet and 41-10.00 feet respectively.

Later in the day Dane Canonico and Jordan Gilbert both finished in the top-10 in the shot put with throws of 44-02.50 feet and 43-01.00 feet. Both the 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams placed in the top-10 as well for the red and white.

On the women's side, Loos was a fourth place finisher in the long jump with a leap of 16-05.25 feet, and a fifth place finisher in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:03.07. The women's 4x200 relay team, which consisted of Loos, Meghan Loos, Dezare Lyles, and Taylor Kutz finished in fifth place with a time of 1:51.22.

The 4x800 team then placed sixth with a final time of 11:05.51, and it was the 4x400 relay team that closed out the day with a fourth place finish and time of 4:22.42.

Junior Mackenzie Miller recorded top-10 finishes in two of the three events she competed in. She took ninth in the indoor pentathlon with 2260 points as well as in the triple jump with a mark of 32-02.00.

Lyles also placed ninth on Saturday in the 55 meter dash with time of 7.90 seconds, which was a new personal best for the freshman. Meghan Loos placed seventh overall in the high jump with a height of 4-07.75 feet. Newcomer Kim Hummel earned a 10th place finish in the mile run with a time of 5:58.92 which broke her career best by .30 of a second.
