Gilfoy Garners Second Team All-Conference Honors

ANNVILLE, Pa. - After a standout first season with the Lady Lions freshman catcher Kiersten Gilfoy has been named a Commonwealth Conference Second Team honoree, which was announced Monday afternoon by the executive office.

Gilfoy, who appeared in 32 of the 34 games, played in her rookie season, ranked fifth on the team with a .250 average. In her 96 appearances at the plate, the Aston, Pa. native recorded 24 hits, 11 RBI, and 10 runs scored. Behind the plate, Gilfoy tallied a team best 142 putouts and 13 assists, and was not charged with an error the entire season.

Her leadership on the field played a major part in the Lady Lions new found attitude. Under first year head coach Amber Nichols, Gilfoy helped Albright to seven victories this season, two of which were over conference opponents. She along with sophomore pitcher Jaime Weckesser played a major part in holding Commonwealth Conference champs Messiah College scoreless through seven complete innings before falling to the Falcons 2-0 in extra frames.
