ANNVILLE, Pa. - Following a sensational turn around last fall, the 2010 volleyball team was picked to finish sixth on this year's Commonwealth Conference poll which was released Wednesday afternoon. Two-time defending conference champions Lebanon Valley College was selected to win the tournament, receiving five of the eight first place votes.
Picked to finish second this fall was Elizabethtown College who received two first place votes and 44 points. Tied for third was Widener University and Messiah College with 34 points. The Falcons received the final first place vote. Lycoming College was tabbed to finish fifth overall with 23 points, followed by the Lady Lions who received 22 points.
In seventh was Arcadia University with 11 points, and closing out the poll was Alvernia with nine points.
Interim head coach
Michael Marks welcomes back nearly every player that was on last year's roster. Having graduated only two players from last seasons team, the Lady Lions will look to break into this year's conference tournament in November.
Senior setter
Lauren Higgins will look to cap off an impressive career this fall. Last season, the New York native tallied a career high 736 set assists. Outside hitter
Danielle Ozment will be another welcome returner this fall, after recording a team best 273 kills and 40 assists.
Volleyball begins their season on Wednesday, September 1st at 7 p.m. when they host Penn State Berks.
