ALLENTOWN, Pa. – It was another afternoon of top finishes for the Albright track and field teams at the 2010 Muhlenberg College Invitational. Leading the way for the red and white was
Justin Gewirtz who took first in the high jump event and
Mackenzie Miller who took second in the triple jump event.
Gewirtz who has become the Lions top high jumper finished out Friday’s meet with a jump of 6-13.00 feet, while Miller recorded a jump of 33.20-00 feet. Miller also went on to claim third in the high jump event with a mark of 4-17.00 feet.
Clif LeGrand was also a top-5 finisher in the field events taking fourth overall in the triple jump with a distance of 41-06.00 feet.
Moving into Friday’s track events
Kim Hummel and
Gabby Stine both competed in the mile event with Stine earning the team’s best time of 6:03.42, followed by Hummel’s time of 6:12.38.
Miller then went onto place fourth overall in the 55 meter hurdles with a new personal best of 9.94 seconds. In the 55 meter dash
Adey Olaoluwa recorded a time of 8.34 seconds, while
Dezare Lyles finished with a new personal best of 8.03 seconds.
On the men’s side of the 55 meter dash, LeGrand was a top-5 finisher with a time of 6.78 seconds, with
Clark Runciman right behind him with a time of 7.36 seconds.
Four runners competed in the women’s 800 meter run, with Hummel leading the pack with a time of 2:53.12. Nearly tying her teammate’s time was Stine who finished just four seconds behind with a time of 2:57.41.
Mary Frederick recorded the third best time in the event followed by
Megan Ford. Senior
Chris Bollinger was the lone runner for the Lions in the 800 as he finished out the event with a time of 2:25.47.
Frederick and
Meghan Loos both made an appearance in the 400 meter dash recording times of 1:19.70 and 1:04.79 respectively. In the even quicker 200 meter dash
Shannon Loos and
Taylor Kutz recorded the two top times for the Lady Lions. Loos closed out the event with a time of 28.33, followed by Kutz with a time of 28.47.
Runciman went on to close out Friday’s meet in the pole vault event in which he took second place with a height of 11-02.00 feet.
A select number of throwers will return to action tomorrow as they take part in the Lebanon Valley College Invitational.
