GLENSIDE, Pa. -- The Albright women's soccer team lost to Arcadia 5-1 in the opening round of the Commonwealth Conference Tournament on Monday as the Knights scored three second-half goals to pull away from the Lions at Easton Field.
Albright spotted the Knights an early 2-0 lead, but then got a goal late in the first half to cut the halftime deficit to 2-1. But the Knights added three goals in the second half and held the Lions off the board to advance to the semifinals of the Commonwealth Tournament.
Albright, which ended its season with a 7-11-1 overall record, fell behind 2-0 with 17 minutes gone in the opening half on goals by Lennon Kramer and Jenna Mirabelli.
But the Lions would answer at the 30:31 mark of the opening half when
Emily Sousa scored from 18 yards out to bring Albright to within 2-1. It marked the ninth goal of the season for Sousa, which tied her season output from last year.
The score remained 2-1 in favor of Arcadia until midway through the second half when the Knights scored three goals in a span of less than five minutes.
Karis Poore upped the lead to 3-1 when she scored on a breakaway at the 72:30 mark of the match.
Jackie Glanfield extended the lead to 4-1 when she tipped in a cross at the 74:13 mark and Kramer closed the scoring with her second goal of the match at the 77:11 mark of the contest.
Emily Sears made the start in goal for the Lions and made a season-high 16 saves on the night.
Arcadia outshot the Lions 35-5 on the night and had six corner kicks to just one for Albright.
