Friday ResultsThree Lions placed in field events and Albright added five qualifying times on the track, as the Albright College men completed day two at the 2014 MAC Outdoor Track & Field championships.
With nine points, Albright is currently 7th of 12 in the team standings.
Placing in field events were two freshmen, including
Colton Harer in the high jump. He cleared 1.88m/6'2" for a three-way tie at second place, ultimately taking third place on total attempts. Classmate
Trent Thorne was seventh in the triple jump (13.24m/43'5.25").
Senior
Mike Schwartz scored a point in the hammer throw, finished eighth overall with a toss of 43.04m. Freshman
Alexander Robles was 17th in the shot put (10.93m/35'10.5").
Sophomore
Oumar Diawara qualified for back-to-back finals on the track. First he ran 50.01 in the 400 to place fourth, and followed it up with a 11.20 in the 100 meters (third in prelims).
In the 4x100m relay,
Rob Raison,
Jermaine Grey,
Tymeer Roberts and Diawara ranked eighth to grab the final spot in the finals (44.40).
Naeem Smith was 21st in the 100 (11.77), while Roberts was 24th (11.94).
Qualifying in the 110m hurdles was junior
Jermaine Grey (15.86), who was sixth in the prelims. Thorne (57.81) advanced after placing seventh in the 400m hurdle prelims; Grey was ninth (58.68).
The final day of events begins tomorrow at 10 a.m., where Diawara (100, 400), Grey (110 hurdles), Thorne (400 hurdles) and the 4x100 relay team will contest the finals of their respective events.
Competing in field events tomorrow will be Roberts and Thorne in the long jump, Harer in the javelin, and
Xavier Gonzalez in the discus.
